Dr. Roy Howard from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Curtin University of Technology, Australia, is visit SPG from Friday, 30th November onward.

In October 25, 2012, Zhihua Lu successfully defended his doctoral thesis. The topic of his thesis was: “Source Enumeration in Sensor Array Processing: A Model Order Selection Problem”.

Prof. Wing-Kin (Ken) Ma visits SPG on August 24th, 2012 and will give a talk on “Semidefinite Relaxation and Its Applications in Signal Processing and Communications”.

Lisa Hesse, Patricia Binder, Mark Balthasar, Fabio Nikolay und Cevin Sehrt have won this year's case study contest by Rohde & Schwarz, competing with more than 200 international students. The topic was related to Long Term Evolution (LTE) and its implementation in the layers of the ISO/OSI model.

The master thesis entitled “Compressed Sensing of Hyperspectral Images” by Jürgen Hahn has been selected for the ISRA Machine Vision Award. The thesis was supervised by Michael Leigsnering and Dr.-Ing. Christian Debes from the Signal Processing Group.

On June 6, 2012, Philipp Heidenreich finished his PhD by defending his thesis on “Antenna Array Processing: Autocalibration and Fast High-Resolution Methods for Automotive Radar”.

On January 27, 2012, Raquel Fandos has finished her PhD by defending her thesis on “ADAC System Design and its Application to Mine Hunting using SAS Imagery”.

54th International Symposium ELMAR-2012 in Kroatien

Prof. Visa Koivunen from Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland, will be visiting SPG on Wednesday, September 14th. He will give a talk on “Diversity-Based Multi-Band Spectrum Sensing Policies for Cognitive Radio Networks”.

The book “Through-the-Wall Radar Imaging,” published by CRC Press, is the first book ever on through-the-wall radar imaging. SPG members Christian Debes and Prof. Abdelhak M. Zoubir contributed a chapter entitled “Detection approaches in Through-the-Wall Radar Imaging.”

Duc Son Pham has won the IEEE Young Author Best Paper Award for the paper Analysis of Multicomponent Polynomial Phase Signals, which is co-authored by Prof. Abdelhak M. Zoubir.

In January 2011, Gökhan Gül commenced working on his PhD with the Signal Processing Group.
