Waqas received his B. Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology Taxila , Pakistan and M. Sc. in „Information and Communication Engineering“ from Technische Universität Darmstadt in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

During and after his studies he worked at Nokia Siemens Networks R & D Center in Düseeldorf and the Honda Research Institute Europe in Offenbach. From March 2009, Waqas started working on his PhD in the Signal Processing Group.

Waqas's field of research is in the area of sensor array processing. He is particularly interested in direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of non-stationary sources in the presence of non-Gaussian and impulsive noise. The aim of his PhD project is to develop robust methods for DOA estimation and to perform the robustness analysis of the proposed techniques.
