Mark received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from Technische Universität Darmstadt in November 2011 and January 2014, respectively. For his accomplishments during his master studies he received the CST Best M.Sc. student award 2014.
Mark's bachelor thesis was entitled Compressive Classification in Through-the-Wall Radar Imaging. In his master thesis Optimal Area Coverage and Target Tracking in Autonomous Sensor Networks he investigated methods for autonomous network distribution and collaborative target tracking in sensor networks.
In June 2014, Mark received the Young Scientist Award for the best paper presented by a graduate student for his paper Optimal Area Coverage in Autonomous Sensor Networks, which got the second prize in the Young Scientist Competition of the 2nd international conference and exhibition on Underwater Acoustic (UA2014) on the Greek island of Rhodes.
In March 2014, Mark commenced working on his PhD in the Signal Processing Group.
The topic of Mark's Ph.D. research is in the area of collaborative sequential detection and estimation in distributed sensor networks.
