Dominik received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from Technische Universität Darmstadt in October 2012 and April 2016 respectively. Since Mai 2016 he is a member of the Signal Processing Group. In August 2021 he received his doctoral degree and has since then been working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Research

The focus of Dominik's research is on sequential analysis and joint detection and estimation. In sequential analysis one aims at performing statistical inference with a minimum average number of samples with guaranteed performance quality in terms of pre-defined statistical measures. Joint detection and estimation, on the other hand, deals with performing hypothesis testing and parameter estimation in a coupled manner as it naturally occurs in various applications. In radar, for example, one wishes to detect the presence of a target and in case a target is present to estimate its location or velocity. The core of Dominik's work is to develop procedures that solve the problem of joint detection and estimation in a sequential setup. Due to the reduced sample size, these procedures are faster than non-sequential methods. In addition, they provide error control on both, estimation accuracy and detection performance.
